This is a side table with an unusual leg arrangement. Although its general structure with the glass-topped frame remains firmly rooted in orthodox Western style, the table is distinguished by its karabitsu-inspired design. A karabitsu is a traditional Chinese trunk used primarily to transport valuables, raised to protect them from moisture. The distinctive arrangement of the table’s legs gives it an oriental functional beauty. The design was overseen by an expert craftsman familiar with the underlying tradition, resulting in a modern product with a classic charm.
